How do I set up SMTP for my email?
For this, you need the following products:
Web hosting
A domain linked to the web hosting
An email client, such as Outlook (for Windows)
SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is an internet standard for sending email. The protocol defines how emails are transferred from the sender to the recipient via mail servers. SMTP ensures that a client (like Outlook, Bluemail, Gmail, etc.) can connect to your personal web hosting to send emails.
In this tutorial, we are using michalk.nl as the domain. Remember to adjust this to your own domain name.
Create a new email account:
How do I create an extra email address?
Open Outlook (Windows) and click on the gear icon in the top right.
Click on "Add new account":
Enter your email address and click on "Continue."
Click on "Show more settings":
Ensure that the SMTP port is set to 587 (as shown below):
Click on "Continue."
You should now be successfully connected to your email.
